Just noticed that both Mike and Jillian have exactly the same response, word for word, more than a week apart. Might be worth removing their URLs Owen... I have no issue with leaving comments where they contribute something useful, but this seems like spam.

@Billie, random though, but could you check your security settings for ActiveX controls (I'm assuming you're using Internet Explorer?)? It is vaguely possible that an update from Microsoft has raised/reset your security level, and this is the culprit. This is a real stab in the dark though, so apologies if no use. To get to that area, I think it goes something like Tools, Internet Options, Security Tab (did this change after IE7?), then perhaps a Custom button? Sorry I can't be more precise, I'm on a Russian distro of XP here. I'm sure Owen will be along shortly to help out if this doesn't assist you.

PS Hi Owen, sorry I've not been around for 1/2 year, was back in UK for birth of our daughter, and didn't get a lot of time for 'personal' browsing. Back in Kazakhstan now, and will be on my own PC in a week or so. Hope all is well with you and yours.

Hi,
I have no problems sending photos to friends using Gmail. All I need is a fast Internet connection. Google’s Gmail allows sending photos of up to 10MB size.

Another issue to consider is the RECEIVER's mail rules - even if your account allows multiple large attachments to be SENT, they may not be RECEIVED.

re. Vista powertoys equivalent - not tested them as I've stuck to an XP/Ubuntu dual boot for now, but http://www.powerhourgame.com/windows_vista_image_resizer_powertoy_prish_image_resizer.htm and http://www.vso-software.fr/products/image_resizer/ are reported as working ok in Vista, and remain similar to microsoft's in terms of being a shell extension.

@Mike: We're talking 10 photos of an average of 4Mb each. They wouldn't have gone up through GMail either.

That's the problem with 10 Megapixel cameras!

@Chris: I must say, the Powertoys are one thing I miss on Vista. You don't know of anything like TweakUI for Vista by any chance do you?

Another option would be to use Microsoft's Photo Resizer toy. It isn't as good re. quality compared to Photoshop et al, but is v.quick - you just right click the picture(s) and select resize.
It is one of my must installs following an OS refresh.
See here - http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx - for the download link. I personally like the Color Control Panel Applet , RAW Image Thumbnailer and Viewer and of course the essential TweakUI . I should point out that these toys aren't officially supported by Microsoft, but I've not had anything go wrong with them on a dozen or so systems.
