I have Word 2003 on my computer and have an annoyance I was hoping you can help me with. Everytime I start entering a date, Word automatically completes it for me. Is there any way I can stop this?

I guess this is a good example of a computer trying too hard. And putting a voice changer on, pretending to be Darth Vader and telling it to stop just isn’t going to help (I hope you haven’t tried that). The easiest way to turn this automatic updating off is to disable AutoComplete in Word. Click on the Tools menu and then AutoCorrect Options. Click on the AutoText tab and then on the box labelled “Show AutoComplete suggestions” so that the tick disappears. Click on OK to save the changes.

There you go .. no more annoying AutoCompletes.
