I installed iTunes and bought and downloaded an album by Queen (best band ever). A message came up asking if I wanted to back up the album to CD, which I did. However, this disc will not play in my stereo. What am I doing wrong?

The latest version of iTunes has made it slightly more difficult to burn music CDs even though it can do everything except clean your bathroom sink. I suspect you chose the Back Up to Disc option from the Library submenu on the File menu. This creates a backup of your Queen album, but not in a format that a normal CD player will recognise.

To make a music CD you must first create a playlist containing the tracks you want to burn. Click the “+” button at the bottom left ot the iTunes window and give your playlist a name (example Queen). Now click Music and drag the relevant album or tracks from the list in the middle of the iTunes window and drop them onto the new playlist. Now right-click the playlist and choose Burn Playlilst to Disc from the pop-up menu. Finally, check that the options in the Burn Settings dialogue box are as your want (the default are usually fine, but make sure “Audio CD” is selected) and click Burn.

I was planning to watch the next episode of Lost on TV tonight but my sister has some friends over and she won’t let me watch my programme. Can I watch it online?

I got this question from an avid Lost fan (aren’t we all) who was distressed at the possibility of not being able to catch up on his latest instalment of his favourite show. Luckily a number of TV channels are also allowing you to watch some of their shows online, but the answer does depend a bit on the country you’re living in and what channel the show is on.

For example, here in the UK, the likes of BBC iPlayer and 4oD let you catch up on missed shows on BBC channels and Channel 4 respectively, but there is one caveat. They’re termed “catch-up TV” as they let you see shows you’re missed, but they don’t really stream what is currently playing at the moment. I would recommend an alternative which works in a number of European countries too.

The program I have in mind is called Zattoo. It’s a TV player that you can download to your computer and lets you watch a range of TV channels in your country. It’s available in Belgium, Denmark, France Germany, Norway, Spain, Switzerland and the UK and offers a great selection of channels that can be legally watched for free in your country.

So here’s the line-up of channels you can watch here in the UK

ABC News

Al Jazeera

AutoMoto TV

BBC Four

BBC News

BBC One

BBC Parliament

BBC Three

BBC Two

Bloomberg UK

CBBC

CBeebies

Channel 4

Channel 5

Community Channel

Deutsche Welle

EuroNews

France 24 English

France 24 French

GOD Channel

GOD Europe

HTV

Information TV

ITV1

Russia Today

SF info

STV

sumo.tv

TeleZuri

The Poker Channel

TV8 Mont-Blanc

Ulster TV

That’s quite a nice line-up actually. It’s almost worth throwing your TV away, popping your laptop on a tv stand and watching TV in that way. There’s certainly more channels than you can get with your aerial.

Although this sounds like a question from a bored teenager, we all occasionally end up with time on our hands and look for some online entertainment. Well, there’s a whole selection of different places online that you can find something to keep you amused, but here are some places to try.

If poker is your game for example, there are many poker rooms you can try online. Here‘s a good guide to some top websites which are safe for all to play, including people in the United States of America where some gambling sites are censored thanks to the “Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006″. That page lists a number of websites together with the New Player Bonus that each site allocates you. This is an extra amount you can play with which really helps improve your odds.

If online gambling isn’t your thing there are a number of other sites around the web where you can find some entertainment. One of my favourite is King.com, a collection of great games which can be played for free or for a stake. Here are some of the games you can find at King:

Bejeweled

Rainbow Rescue

Big Bang

Freecell

Pool King

Luxor

and many many more
