How do I configure PPPoE on a new Mac?

I have a new MacBook Pro and the Setup Assistant does not offer to configure PPPoE connections. How do I do this?

It’s actually not that hard. Here’s what you do. After setting up a user account and completing the Setup Assistant:

  1. Choose System Preferences from the Apple (?) menu.
  2. Click Network.
  3. Be sure your PPPoE interface is connected to your ethernet port or ethernet adapter.
  4. Click the plus sign.
  5. In the Interface pop-up menu, choose PPPoE.
  6. Click Create.
  7. Enter the account information for Service Name, Account, and Password
  8. Click Connect.

There you have it !
